Pitlochry Dam and Salmon Ladder

Scottish Hydro Electric Visitor Centre

Constructed between 1947 and 1951 the dam not only provides an opportunity to see a fully operational hydro power station, but a chance to observe salmon at close quarters.

Salmon travelling up the river to spawn can be seen in three viewing chambers in a salmon ladder. Interactive, audio-visual presentations of this king of British fish are also provided at the visitor centre.

Pitlochry Dam and Salmon Ladder is only one of many attractions within easy reach of Southwood Bed and Breakfast, Pitlochry.
